Etoile
Current Operations
In 2003 Chemaf was granted the mining rights to Etoile and exploration rights to its surrounding areas.
The Etoile mine is a part of an integrated operation around Lubumbashi, comprising the Etoile main open pit mine, Etoile SX-EW plant (under mining license PE577) and the Etoile Extension open pit mine (Mining License PE1538, adjacent to PE577).
The PE577 comprises six “carrés” or approximately 500 hectares and covers the Etoile main pit where all the oxide ores have been completely mined out, by Chemaf during the Phase 1 Life of Mine (LOM) from 2006 to 2016. There remains the underlying mixed and sulphide ores.
